1. Getting Started What is Mentorchips? Mentorchips lets you create simple, mobile-friendly information pages called functions. People can access them by tapping a physical Green Dot with a compatible NFC-enabled smartphone, scanning a QR code, or opening a link. Do I need technical knowledge? No. Simply choose your Function ID, add your information, upload an image or short video, and decide what your buttons should do. What is a Function ID? It's the unique, permanent reference for your microsite. Each Function ID has its own information and buttons. Once created, the content can change without changing the Function ID.
2. Creating and Editing Functions What can I put on a microsite? A title, one main image or video, a short description, and up to four buttons. These can link to websites, bookings, menus, instructions, videos, contact options or other online resources. Can I change my information later? Yes. Sign in, select the Function ID you want to edit, make your changes and save. Updates normally become available quickly, without replacing or reprogramming your Green Dots. Can I replace an existing image or video? Yes. The editing page shows your current media. Upload a replacement to change what visitors see. Each microsite displays one main image or video. Can I control social sharing? Yes. Turn on the social-sharing bar when you'd like visitors to share your content, or turn it off when sharing isn't appropriate. Turning sharing off does not make a publicly accessible page private.
3. Green Dots and Access What is a Green Dot? It's a small, rigid, adhesive-backed NFC disc that connects a compatible phone directly to your chosen function. Place it where people are most likely to need information or assistance. Do I need to buy a new Green Dot whenever I change something? No. Your Green Dot keeps the same Function ID. Change the information behind it as often as needed. Can several Green Dots do the same thing? Absolutely. Multiple Green Dots can access the same function. You can update the information once, and all those access points will lead to the updated microsite. How can I use my Function ID straight away? As soon as your function is live, you can use its web address to open and share it. A self-service QR code generator is also planned, allowing you to create QR codes for printed materials.
4. Where Can I Use Mentorchips? Is Mentorchips only for businesses? No. It can also be useful at home, for house-sitting instructions, visitor information, personal projects and other situations where helpful information needs to be easy to find. What are some everyday examples? Café menus, gym equipment guidance, holiday accommodation instructions, visitor attractions, event information, shop promotions, product demonstrations, care equipment instructions, book promotions and much more. Can I use Mentorchips instead of a website? For a simple mobile-friendly information or promotional page, it may provide everything you need. It's not intended to replace every feature of a full website, but it can be a practical alternative when your needs are straightforward.
5. Membership and Costs How much does Mentorchips cost? Membership is £7.20 per month, giving you access to your dashboard and self-service function management. Physical Green Dots are ordered separately. How many functions can I create? Membership is designed for everyday use, with five functions normally included under the fair-use approach. If you need more, contact Mentorchips to discuss your requirements. Do I have to order Green Dots immediately? No. You can start creating your functions and use their web addresses before ordering physical Green Dots. What happens when I need more Green Dots? Order additional Green Dots for an existing function. They can access the same information without creating a separate function or additional subscription for every physical access point.
